I Tested Positive For COVID-19

Hello, I know its been a while since I’ve posted. It had nothing to do with COVID-19, I just haven’t felt that there was anything worth writing about since everything is being covered many times over. I figured I would step back for a bit and wait for the right time, which is now. ***If you would like to go to straight to the part of the article where I talk about my direct experience once I know I’ve been exposed and tested, look for the header that says I’m Tested, Now What***

Finding Out I’ve Been Exposed

I received the news about two weeks ago that a worker at a doctors office that I was at, tested positive for COVID-19. A week went by when my girlfriend received a call from her doctor, informing her that a worker has tested positive for COVID-19, and that worker was in the building while we were there. There was an immediate worry, not for us, but for baby.

Yes, don’t think I’ve mentioned that yet, my girlfriend is pregnant, not the best time for that, I know. Its what happened and I will do my best to provide and best the best father I can be.

Back on topic. It was already late in the day so we decided to get tested the next day. My girlfriend notifies her boss about what happened and we begin to try figure out who we’ve been in contact with. We’ve already be isolating consistently so it wasn’t many to begin with.

Getting Tested

There is a stadium not too far from where we live that has been converted to a testing facility so we knew where to go. We had actually passed it to get to her doctor and line looked it never wanted to stop. There was news reports talking about the long waits as well, lines that were starting at 5am-6am, they opened at 9am. We decided to show up at around 7:30am to beat some of the line. We expected to be there a while so we took food and a deck of Uno cards.

8am rolls up and the facility opens. Luck was our side and our line begins to move at a decent pace.

We eventually reach the front gates and see signs that say

  • Have masks on and do not remove at any point

  • Have I.D. ready

  • Keep window over the halfway length

We were told to roll down the window and we identified ourselves. They handed each of packet to write our phone numbers on. We were then instructed to place the packets with our I.Ds on the dashboard. We drive in and there are cones set up to guide us on where to go. Then there was a soldier who guided us to the area where the testing were being done.

We get in line, and were asked to confirm information on our I.Ds and packets and then told to wait for the next car to drive off.

It’s our turn to drive up.

For me, when the nurse put the cotton swab in my nose, it just felt like I had to sneeze REALLY bad. It also caused me to cough. My girlfriend had a similar feeling except she also felt it in her throat, I didn’t. We follow the cones and were good to go.

I’m Tested, Now What

Now here is where the problem is for me specifically. I was already sick prior to being exposed so if I felt symptoms, I wasn’t able to distinguish them. I was breathing fine the entire time, I kept my smell and taste. Any typical symptom, I wasn’t getting any of them. As the days went on, not only did I not get symptoms, I was feeling better. By the end of the week, I was almost back at 100%. Nothing has been happening with my family, girlfriend, or her family.

I started working out again and I even ended up doing my 2mi run better than usual.

I Get My Results

I received my results yesterday, and it came back positive. My girlfriend has yet to receive her results yet, however if I am truly positive, she definitely has it. The reason I say if I am truly positive is because I never showed the normal signs, and my girlfriend didn’t show any signs what so ever. Our families are still okay and haven’t felt anything out of the norm. All this leads me to believe that I was instead a false positive.

I highly doubt that it just so happens that me, my girlfriend, our family, and friends of family have all been unaffected in any way. The odds of all of being asymptomatic or have the proper immune system that everyone we care about, all happen to be okay, as well as their family.

That’s ridiculous.

It’s a lot more likely that I came back as a false positive. One way to confirm that is when my girlfriend gets her result. It SHOULD say negative simply because there’s just no way that we were this lucky.

How I Prepared

All I did was fix my diet, and workout.

Now before you click off, please, listen to me.

By simply doing that, you will be boosting up your immune system, bettering your odds of survival if you do end up getting it. I had already dropped 15lbs by the time of being exposed and fixed my diet to where I wasn’t consuming nearly as much unhealthy food. I also ate vitamins as an added bonus. If i truly did get exposed and Im truly positive, I know for a fact that my change in lifestyle helped me be okay
